Finish changes everything.
A finish affects appearance, feel and maintenance.
Its name alone does not establish slip resistance.
Interior & worktops
Consider traffic, abrasion, staining and acids. Carbonate stones can etch; sealing does not prevent acid damage.
Exterior & landscape
Confirm weathering, salts, UV exposure, thermal movement and local climate. Check anchorage for cladding and loading for paving.
Wet areas
Separate walls from walking surfaces. Check moisture behaviour, waterproofing and backing; assess the finished floor for barefoot or shod use.
Understand the evidence.
Family guidance Broad selection advice for a material group.
